Ok...I'm gonna get a lot of flack for this and most likely crucified but here goes....
I'm an old school lineman, and when I mean old school, I'm talking middle 70's, 80's etc.
Why are so much of these threads posted are all about the hard times installers
are having?.....I do know the services provided by the MSO's can be a real burden
to installers as more and more products are rolled out and new policies are introduced. Expectations seem to be higher and the pay isn't that great.
But please...get over it....I worked my butt off back in the day, came home aching, knees busted up,
hands full of splinters, pads of hooks wearing thru your jeans so much, you were raw.
That was work....NO ladders, no buckets, just pure physical humping. We had quotas as well.
But no one on our line gang ever complained....In fact at the end of the day, you felt like you've accomplished something.
No whinning, no crying, and if you did.....you were thrown to the wolves. In my OPINION, I feel that most of these
installers on here cannot and never could keep up with some of us "Old Schoolers" even if I put a set
of hooks on today and ran the stick. Try and do exactly what we did years ago today and half of em would get out of
the business, and the others would complain about the foreman riding their butt for doing 40 to 50 poles....
Without the old lineman who built these systems, you installers wouldn't have your ladder hooks to rest on anything.......
Ok let-er rip......
