I think it all started happening when the talk of going all inhouse for projects (the MSO's were saying this years ago) began and the contractors @ the time said no way it will never happen. The MSO's on the other hand while acknowledging that contractors were still needed, but not in as great of numbers, just lowered the prices to FORCE the experienced people out (the ones that demanded top wages knowing full well the value of their knowledge & work) and bring the younger inexperienced people in at half (or less) prices.
Just look at all the big companies today following suit (seriously). FORD & GM are prime examples of this by buying out the experienced people and bringing in the younger inexperienced people for less money than the experienced people earned doing the exact same job.
