I see many adds that state a background check will be done, but they never state what it is they are looking for. Is it felony convictions? Misdemeanors? A parking ticket 15 years ago? An Irish surname? Failure to join the cub scouts? What would disqualify a person?
Also, why do independent contractor positions advertised where you furnish the vehicle, state that you must have a "clean driving record" and what is a clean driving record? I would assume that means no tickets period, for maybe the last 5 years. My question is, if it's your own vehicle and insurance, and you're working as an independent contractor, why should anyone care WHAT your driving record is?
