Say you are a sub working directly for the prime on a large job with other subs and you were given a large section to work on - after calling in locates, then making multiple trips to the site to meet with locators, pipeline reps, etc to make sure everything is marked and everyone is happy - then you pull up on the job to get ready to start, only to find another sub has finished about half of the job. The sub has 1 guy out there running a trencher, no cones, no signs, no truck, a locate ticket that still had 24 hours to be valid - all this working along a state highway.
My first thought is to notify the 3 pipeline reps that we aren't the ones trenching in case the other guys damage something and they automatically assume it is us since we are the only ones with a valid locate - it's especially frustrating because the PM for the prime doesn't care.
I know we're just a sub but it's bs - what would yall do if anything?
