Things we think out loud when dealing with cust's

Let's hear about what we have slipped up and actually told a customer before thinking. I had a moment just yesterday.

I am installing a dish dual tuner 625 and the customer has a network cable interface in the basement. He starts explaining how everything should work, which is not how it needed to be connected and I connected it how I know it needs to be to get what he wants and he says "that doesn't look right", I replied "yet it will still work, you have what we call a engineers complex".
I immediately realized I had actually said what I was thinking and apologized and told him I didn't mean to offend him. The customer is a retired nuclear engineer and if you have ever installed a system for a "retired" engineer, then I think you can feel me hear.
He didn't seem offended at the least. Maybe a bit of honesty did him some good.

Let's hear what you guys/gals have slipped up and said to the customer.
