Hello all.
Well, I've got less than a year in the business as an Installer for a sub doing work for Cox Comm. in the Las Vegas system and just hit the first mixed signal pile of crap a MSO can hand a noobie.
I started working for a sub-company last June going in with a lot of computer experiance and a willingness to learn the business of installation. I picked it all up quickly and have been rated one of the top 5 installers in the company each month since I've been there. End of 2004 comes around and it's announced that we've kicked ass all year and are the #1 installers for the Vegas valley for the second year in a row. Much hoopla and back patting going on right now. The trophy is back on the filing cabinet for all to see, and for us to gloat over.
Two days ago, Cox tells us how they are going to reward all our hard effort: A pay cut.
Needless to say, we're all bummed out. We bust ass all year to improve the specs of the system. 14-16 hour days 5-6 days a week in 120-degree temps. Blood, sweat and tears to keep the end customer happy and what do we get for 2005?? Nothing more than a G-D pay cut in the piece rate.
Now I'm new to this whole ball of wax I know. But is THIS the norm?? Is this truly how the system works?? If it is, sign me out as: "Confused"
