panther - don't turn this into in-house vs. contractor ... been in the biz for 12 or so years now - up until 6 months ago when i went inhouse i was a contractor. both sides have their fair share of good and bad techs !!!! i have to clean up bhind contractors as well as inhouse EVERY DAY !!!! it boils down to pride in workmanship and VERY few folks seem to have it in the newer generation.
I definately agree last man out has become nothing more than a way to save money for the MSOs. HOWEVER , if all people were doing their jobs right then the 2 hour clean up on a box upgrade would not be needed and as previously posted in this thread all systems would run smoother and not be a nightmare to work in.
no shots taken directly at ya panther - i just want to make my point on the inhouse v contractor thing before it spirals outta control ...
