I have had a question about schooling for contractors for a long time. For someone who is interested in starting out doing cable/sat would a school type setting work out and would people use it? Take it as (and this is just a spitball idea) A 6 week or so training course on the how to of, running lines signal loose, meter, hand tools, voip and hsd training NCTI certification trainin like qualified contractor and voip tests. i have a laundry list of things that could be taught to make a tech much better in the field.
The reason i ask this is I have seen many techs pass and fail at becoming a tech based on the training they received by whomever is teaching them out in the field. This class would allow the techs to learn all that is needed without putting the person teaching them threw the troubles of making sure the person still learns whilst still making all time frames and doing said job to spec.
All im asking is for opinions about if this would work or not if you had the ability to get some continuing or new education for a reasonable price would you.
Last but not least the last idea would be to get the support of the main cable company and any contractors that work for that cable companys support so that the techs could get some field training at no cost to the contractor.
Thanks in advanced
Josh
