What's so special about Charter Cable Installation

I spoke with someone hiring for Charter cable Installations yesterday and they made it seem like a BIG DEAL to instal thier system because they use a PDA.  Could someone PLEASE expplain to me what's so special and/or HARD about installing Charter Cable systems?  He also informed me that he attempted to train multiple techs on the system and they couldn't grasp it within a weeks time.  I'm no dummy, but this is quite difficult for me to believe.  Any advice?
