Re: Overtime pay on piece work

Boy oh boy. This industry has nicest way of explaining why its OK to break laws. Truley amazing. So when these bogus 1099 companies are made to obey laws and have a true contractor relationship with workers and pay back OT to those 1099 guys, I guess we'll here every reason in the book why its not right. Wheres all the patriotism? What happend to how when immigrant workers are subjected to this they are considered people who are hurting this country. So what is it now, its OK to get treated like an immigrant and hurt the country, as long as you are an american. What is it, only we are allowed to violate labor laws?

These rules are there to protect workers and its what makes our labor laws the best in the world to work under. When you circumvent them, you get an unfair advantage over companies who obey the rules. Some companies actually obey the rules and still provide very good jobs. So the rules do work. There are many companies who circumvent these laws and are able to lower bids for work. The companies paying by the rules are hurt by those who cheat. So just obey the rules, its better for the big picture, and besides its the right thing to do.
