All true but we are not talking about rust buckets.Most primes,commanded by the mso want all the installers to have newer trucks.Lets say you have a white 1990 doge with a good paint job and mechanically sound.You should be able to use that truck.Installers are driving around in new trucks making payments out of pocket so the prime and the mso looks good to the public.I think you should drive what you can afford.If you dont get paid crap than drive crap.What is professional when you cant afford it.The mso wants it done for free.pay me for being a professional and I'll look the part.
