Click on the "Bar", goto "employment". You'll find the Bar almost like you remember it. There are a few changes. Check it out. I think you'll like all the (new) stuff.

I like your second suggestion best. Unfortunately, MSO's look at us as "lowly contractors" and not as knowledgable as they are. If I may impart some of my experience to you. Give them what they ask for regardless of if it works or not. Look at it as "Job security". Their system will not be at optimum., and if it was you whom brought it to their attention, it might be you who gets the contract when they do deside to optimize. But puting in the -2 probe may not be the best when you take in consideration that your MSO doesn't know what you are doing or have taken that in consideration these specs as their system needs may dictate. Give them what they want, it's their system. If they did not understand, I doubt that they would be capable of running a multibillion dollar operation.Give them the benifit of the doubt.

Hey SWeepTeK, try sweeping with no reference (raw) out of a stargate node that is supposed to have 10 dB of tilt but it may be 9 or 11 and the MSO won't correct the tilt on the fiber, which can be done in the head-end, so when you get to your first active and set your tilt at 10 your still looking at that tilt in the fiber, then they want you to shoot your EOL's with no tilt comp. and you have to cock your head to look at the response. I would think that if you wanted to make it easier to look at the response you could set the tilt comp. so your A & B markers were at the same levels, but like you said, do what the customer wants and move foward. Afterall, if your making money and delivering quality response and unity gain, then everybody's happy. SWEEP ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We used the tilt compensation method, be it generic, it got the job done. With changing architectures, things are getting easier to keep a handle on, as long as your sweep tech knews the difference between amp characteristics and real problems. I guess the hardest part is to get some people to actually visit all the actives and eol's. The way some people brag about speed, you'd think they were cloned, or they were one of those sliding installers that did coffee house disco's! (hate those guys, that's the leak where our raise goes) Anyway, enough babble for now.
