THANKS MARK, I HAD THE SAME IMPRESSION, THE THING THAT I QUESTIONED WAS WHEN YOU HAVE A MINI BRIDGER AND A LE WITH DIFFERENT INPUT LEVELS TO THE RA,IT WAS SHOWING THAT DIFFERENCE IN THE H.E. LEVELS, WHICH I GUESS WOULD MAKE SENSE BUT WHEN I FIRST USED IT I THOUGHT THE LEVELS AT THE HEAD END WOULD BE THE SAME. MAY THE CABLE GODS SHINE UPON YOU AND BESTOW YOU GREAT WEALTH IN THE NEW YEAR. SWEEP ON DUDE!!!!!

Dan Jerry Danowski I'm not NY anymore we are in MAINE(wife and kids).ON THE BIG BIG JOB 3000 in 2 years. I work for Adelphia as Construction manager(central maine area) for the rebuild/upgrade. I heard Howie was selling also he still owes me 26,000K OH WELL.I seen Smitty when I worked for COX In RI.Talked him and Pete Wagner to help out on that job for one of the contractors there.50 construction crews and 30 splicers on that one. I left cox(2000 miles that year)to go to Boston Edison( Project manager for Allston Brighton,Brookline,Dorchester) on the RCN job. Left there because I did'nt get along with the union mentality(LOADS).Live in Newcastle ME. I'm looking for two project coordinators any reliable hard workers left out there? Who are you working for?

The reverse alignment tool on the Stealthtrak is almost a useless function. The it does its math there (if you'll notice) is not a big help to us in the field (as per John Downey-WWG). Mr. Pickrell is right. The unity gain method-using telemetry level or reference level is the only way to go. Why do we sweep systems in the first place? Unity gain. Difference in reference levels for actives that have different output levels than the amp where the reference was made is natural. The easiest way to sweep the forward path these us to just do the math: example---HFC node amp (where references are made) has 46/36dB (optimized) output, all other actives in the plant have 48/38dB (balanced) output. When sweeping the plant and your actives are balanced correctly you will see +2 reference when balanced. Snap your picture and move on... Of course all sweep techs know that things are not always as simple as that. For instance: the MSO that I'm sweeping for wants to see zeros on the A (marker 1) and B (marker 2) also in the difference between the two markers (delta) and the reference level. How do I do this if the amps have different output levels than the one I referenced from? There a couple of ways. One way is to put a -2 inline pad on my lead after I reference. What I suggest (because of the innaccuracy of inline pads) is to balance your active to the correct outputs and tilt (of course) you will then see a +2 reference level because your amps output 2 more than the one you referenced at... Put your -2 inline pad on and shoot your pic. You could just add the -2 in the TP comp function of your meter right? Yes but doesn't your TP comp show up on your pic? Yes it does. Will the MSO understand why you have -22 instead -20 (or whatever your test point loss is on the actives)? No. This is the easiest scenerio I could come up with. The plant I am currently sweeping has a 10dB tilt at the node amp and the distridution amps in the plant have a 12.5dB tilt---to add insult to injury the trunk amps have different outputs that the bridger amps and the line extenders have a different optimum output level too!!! Try sweeping that with the constraints that the MSO wants. Solution: Teach our MSOs what are doing...educate them. Knowledge is power. I hope this helps.
