Wam....
What p*ssed me off about your comments was the way you said "Sorry Guys".
I came out with just a bit more attitude than what was needed.
I (along with alot of other folks) firmly believe that although you may save a good amount of money on the front end by doing alot of the work in-house, you will end up spending a whole lot more on the back end to have us fix or re-build what wansn't done right the first time. No matter how many years some of your in-house guys have or how good they think they are, if they're not out there living the life, doing this for a living on a daily basis then it's a fairly safe assumption the they don't have the experience it takes to build a bulletproof system.
I just don't see 15 or 16 years of de/re's being considered "Experience".
I read in one of your responses to someone that you "Love to run cocky contrators down the road". That just exemplifies the attitude that a lot of in-house people have had towards contractors for who knows how long. (16 years that I know of) I think it's safe to say that we (Contractors & MSO's) need each other to a large degree... You need something built and we do it. Your attitude seems to say that you ( the MSO's) can do just fine without contractors. How long do you really think you (the MSO's) would be able to design, build and maintain well built and smooth running systems without the contractors that do it for a living day in and day out...??? Look around your shop and ask yourself: How many of these guys could go out and PROPERLY build a system..?? Without a babysitter, without a little map reading class first, without anything but thier hooks, tools, materials and a print. If you're honest about it, I'd be suprised if ya had more that 1 or 2.
If you're gonna try to do all this in-house, fine, I wish all the luck in the world. Just do me (us) a favor: Don't sit their in your office with the attitude that you're better than us....You're not......Just different.......
