ingress testing info...

I'm just beginning the testing of drops/house wire for ingress. Does anyone have any info on proper proceedures for this testing? I have the needed meters etc... just some questions concerning where to hook up to the house drop(at the tap end or house end), if a splitter will interfere, etc...
