If you are just adding connectors, the job is vastly easier. I'll note that ANYONE can splice fiber, the true value of a fiber splicer lies in his/her ability to troubleshoot quickly, work in hot cases with a nimble touch when needed, and quality.
I have guys that can splice but none of the above; while they do hold value, it isnt the same as someone who I can send out to troubleshoot an outage, digging in live cases in the middle of the day and not worry. There is a huge shortage of high quality fiber splicers; and demand is high.
