You first call them up and question them, request a new 1099, All companies are suppose to have your 1099 to you by end of Feb.
Did you have truck allowance/food/motel/tool expense-Etc. You may have done $8k in work but $22 all total with add ones'
Call first-if no satisfaction...go to your Labor Relations Board in the state the are based in.
No satisfaction-contact IRS-if they think false statements-they "Could" call the company in for an audit..and no company wants that.
