Working for a construction company north of Detroit we had an emergency repair in Toledo. All the crews were dispatched and we sent a convoy to the location. This too was before cell phones and Nextel. All the trucks had hand held Motorolas and ONE of the of the radios that we had didn't work. My foreman was in the lead truck and I was at the rear. He realized that he had no idea where the broken radio was. I heard him on the radio say, "Rob, does your radio work?" and I sarcastically said, "No."
Next thing I know the entire convoy pulls to the shoulder of the road. I thought that one of the trucks broke down, until I see my foreman running to my truck to give me another radio. I asked him whats up, and he said he was giving me a radio that works. I asked him how would I be able to tell you over the radio that my radio doesn't work???
