Scenario - 8 jobs 3 TC 60-180 minutes @ 24.19 = 72.57 3 installs as follows: -Install 1 45-75 minutes 2 boxes 1 A/O 1 modem 1 Single Family UG Install @ 18.14 Modem Install @ 14.51 1 A/O @ 9.68 = 42.33 - Install 2 30-60 minutes 2 Boxes 1 Modem MDU Install @ 14.51 Modem Install @ 14.51 = 29.02 - Install 3 90-120 Minutes 3 Boxes 1 Modem Wireless 1 CDV 2 A/O (1)Single Family U/G Install @ 18.14 (1)CDV+HSD @ 29.84 (1)Networking @ 5.68 (3)A/O @ 9.68 = 82.70Shitty Restart 20-40 minutes @ 11.29 Equipment pick-up 20-30 minutes @ 8.85 NOT HOME DAMNIT = 0 Total days earning = 237.91 time spent 4.41-8.41 hours plus an 1 hour drive time to and from the field (shop in am and home in pm) plus you were at the shop an hour early so lets say 7-10 hours. thats 33-23.70/hour. Now if you can do that 4 days a week one shitty day @ 150 and one light but still solid @ 190 = 1291.64 on the week with 42-60 hours put in. 1291.64*4=5166.56/month Gross Income. EXPENSES 300 for commercial auto & liability 1000 for truck expenses (based on 500miles/week@.50cents/mile covering fuel & maintenance on my 2500hd diesel which is way overkill) 200 cell phones 420 truck payment. So 5166.56-420-200-1000-300=3246.56 gross profit left in company after write offs and we'll assume you take it all out for yourself. 3246.56*.7=2272.59 take home after uncle sam. Now you have to remember that is more take home than my womans 40k/year job and my truck is paid for along with all family vehicle insurance and cell phones. Are you getting rich? No. Are you doing ok, imo yes. I also plow in the winter and will take days here and there for my property preservation business. I also live in a high end market outside DC and the government money has made us not feel the recession as much as others.Now if you have the means (college/experience) to do better jobs go ahead but this provides a way to for me to make descent money and i am not in the position to start at some company and work my way up. I have too much overhead in my life. Nothing in this business is given to you and you have to be moving but I think it is worth it. This "scenario" is also what i think any dedicated person could achieve in our market @ 6 days/week and you could do better (i.e. that in 5days)....or worse.
