Where in Japan were you working? What Japanese food dont you like? There are many,many,many, used car lots here now so I think that stigma has changed. As far as eating an ice cream cone in front of a client; not sure I would do that in the states either. Sweets are for everyone, the many and varied cake/bakery/candy stores all over this area Kyushuu and Okinawa bear witess to this as does my wife, and her friends, both male and female whom eat cake every chance they get. Not refilling ones glass is indeed rude you got that one, again I have only been in Japan since 1998 so things could have changed. Respectfully.
