I worked in Japan for Juniper cable years ago (90's). They really don't like white people, our culture is so different, we (white people) insult them at every turn. We embarrass ourselfs, and according to the Japanese we have no honor. Examples; Rule #1. Never call some one out for not doing their job, or catch them in a lie, that is unheard of. You are never allowed to comment on the poor work they are doing. You can only give complements. This alone makes it impossible to work in Japan. To buy a used car is a great dishonor. Fruit, in America 90% of fruit is blemished in one way or another, to buy it would be a dis-honer, beneath a man of stature. Woman are treated very badly, to stop a man from beating his wife, especially a white man in unthinkable. Top this off with the food, if you are an adventurous eater and think you have eaten Japanese you're wrong. In general it is bad, real bad. Eat a ice cream cone in front of a client and it will cost you the job. Another no no in Japan, ice cream is for children (along with all sweets). Never refile your own glass that is an insult.
