Re: Speed tricks

It seems like organization is what most guys see as the key. One speed trick I use when running lines is pulling dual coax whenever i have to run two lines to the same side of the house plus I use gutter runs whenever possible. I know some of you cable guys aren't allowed to do that, but us Directv guys can. I make sure to bring in all receivers right when i get to the house. So after the site survey, I go back out to my truck, assemble the dish and carry everything I need, cable, ladders, etc. to wherever I'm mounting it. I mount it and run the lines from the dish to the grounding block. I drill all my holes prior to running lines. Then I'll run all my lines (left loose without attachment) before screw clipping them in. There are some exceptions to that rule, but usually that's the way I go. Then i attach the cables starting from the furthest room and towards the groundblock/multiswitch. One thing I do is put a screw clip as close as I can to the entry point, which is usually right below the bug plug, so that when I go inside to attach the wall plate and I have to push some cable back out, it will go inside the wall instead of back outside leaving excess cable dangling. Once again, there are exceptions to that as well, but that's what i try to do. Final step is the inside. I try not to visit the same room more than twice, once to drill the hole and twice to hook up equipment. STREAMLINING AND ORGANIZATION seem to be the keys to me. All critiques of my methods are welcome.
