Multi Mode/Single mode fiber question

I am wondering if anyone has come across any MM/SM fiber? I came across some fiber that is a 48ct fiber 700' long the blue & Orange bundles are SM, the Green & Brown are MM. I have never seen fiber like this and I am sure any one can order what they want.

The SM has SM connectors and it shoots good on the OTDR, when you put a source on it the loss is extremely high to go 700'. I know that you are not suppose to splice MM to SM but I also know it can be done but with high loss. I am wondering if this has happened and how to tell? any thoughts? The SM fiber has not been used till now, there MM fiber works just fine with no problems. I did not install this fiber so I have very limited info about it. I could not see any markings on the fiber sheath it goes into interduct at the racks.

 Any thoughts would be great
