I had to do that once a while ago, where the last 870 meter was a MM fiber. It followed a 9,000 km of SM fiber. Thank Good I had enough power to push the 1310 nm to the end of the MM fiber. The only difference between you and I it was in a different cable not in the same cable. I also remember I had to redo the splice SM to MM fiber a couple of time so I could get a desent loss.
