I've seen multiple articles on this and yes customers are dropping video and using internet as an alternate. I think the battle between broadcasters and cable co's isn't helping either. When Cablevision and Fox couldn't come to an agreement and Fox pulled the plug it pissed off a lot of subs. As you know this isn't the first time, but in the end the MSO's end up paying more and passing that cost on to the customers. The bottom line is cost of service.
On the other hand I've been really busy all year adding VOD and SDV service groups because usage is up and based on usage today 2011 looks like it's going to be a very busy year too. So from the my standpoint in the headend I'm not seeing that, but the subscriber growth numbers that are being reported show different.
I think we will start seeing metered internet and bandwidth cap being enforced in 2011....
