Re: New Jethro type question(s)

Hi Mark

1st of all you need to know if the memory is DDR or SDRAM, you will need to use the MFG & model number to see what it is, 512mb ram is just the basic ram on a store bought system, as far as the terabyte HD it won't work, your P4 cpu won't support anything above 250GB and it definitely will not support Blu-Ray
you can get windows 7 for around $80 and it will support up to 120GB of memory but you also need to see how many memory slots you have on the motherboard

Some high end motherboards will support up to 120GB of memory, but that again all depends on what type of processor you have, on a pentium 4 it is pretty much limited to 4GB, the CELERON or ADM processors will support more memory

nvidia cards with 2gb memory is a pretty good gaming card, and I would use amazon.com their prices are way better then tiger of new egg plus most of the stuff have free shipping or $4.99 for 2 day express.

but truly if I was you I would consider buying a new laptop, desktop computers are a thing of the past unless you are looking to have a bunch of drive bays for HDD, Server Drives, Lan cards, optical drives, if you are a internet warrior you can get a nice HP Pavilion 17" wide screen, loaded, r/w cd/dvr/blu-ray light scribe for around $600.00

Because by the time you piece meal that desk top together and deal with all the glitches involved in adding some hardware that is not supported by the p4 processor and all the cussing, smacking the computer and re-booting and the blue screen of death that xp is so well known for, you might just end yo throwing it out the window, with a new one, plug it in, turn it on your done
