Fox News plays and preys on fear. They are nothing more than a mouth piece for the Republican Party. I have not found one objective piece on that network that is not biased.
I agree that the spill leak should not have happened. Investigation will bear out that shortcuts were taken by BP and Halliburton when they tried to cap the well according to some survivors of the explosion. With out a contingency plan in place, BP should not have been allowed to sink that well.
Granted, there are areas where we should be drilling but are not due to environmental concerns (the same concerns affecting the Gulf right now). There are other areas onshore where the oil companies can drill, but wont. The reason that they wont is the cost involved in extracting the oil. There are oil wells here in New Mexico that are idled right now due to the drop in crude prices. Once the crude price rises, some of these wells will come back on line. Just as soon as oil hit $100 ber barrel a few years back, every oil well in this state was humming away. Hell, they were even drilling more. When the the bottom fell out, most of those wells were idled.
