I have been the business for years and years as a tech, and the quality of the installations were not as good either. You never explained why you wanted to turn the work down. I definately agree with the rest of your post without a doubt, but even if a sub refuses work on a regular basis, why would dtv route work to that tech number anymore? They would have to find someone to pick it up....and if not....take the chance on losing a customer. Unfortunatley, the customer is more important than the tech in their eyes. The tough thing about dtv, is that they automatically route the tech number unless someone pulls that number ahead of time. But in cases of emergency or someone being sick, they will see your point there. I will fight for a contractor anyday, and I have for many, but dtv has the upper hand on who is routed and who is not. The sites we are located in, have very good staffing, so we have not ran into any major issues. Don't get me wrong, there are lots and lots of crappy contractors still around, but dtv eventually is going to keep the best of the best. Sounds like you just got the shaft from one of those crappy contractors. All contractors are not the same and it sucks to here guys that have been bent over the coals think that. It puts a bad taste in everybodys mouth and unfortunately ruins the reputation of all contractors. Sorry to hear about your mis-fortune as a contractor....have you ever thought about working in-house as an employee?
