Fellas you can turn down any job as a 1099 contractor. If they threaten to not give you anymore work because you said no. This is illegal. Are your fellow contractors and you aware of 1099 contractor rules. Dont know what they are? Look it up on the IRS website under 1099 contractor. If your company is not adhering to these rules, find another company and file a ss8 with the IRS on this one. The IRS will come in and investigate this company and find out if you should be treated as an employee or a contractor by the companies past actions. If they decide you are a employee this company will now be responsible for all the back taxes. On top of that if you are having extreme chargebacks and they have counted it as pay on your year end take that to the IRS and show them where the company has showed what they deducted as earnings when they actually took it from you before you even got it. This is called a deceptive business practice.
And all you guys that seat around watching your brothers and their familes get screwed should be ashamed of yourself. This kind of attitude just increaes the chances of you getting the same treatment down the road. Lets hear you say it "What are the Odds? Duh! Huge I think!
To all you newbies comming in the guys in charge is more likely than not to be a company loyalist so be careful what you believe. They will bluff you into doing work that is dangerous, other guys turned down for good reason, or just to cover their butts with the boss because they are too lazy to do it themselves.
