Re: How Ironic

LOL.....  Where do I start with you.....

Federal labor laws like overtime, the civil rights act, and the federal min.wage, are all set by the feds.  The states can go above and beyond these laws, but they all must meet the minimum federal guidlines.

For example, the overtime law says hourly workers are to be paid time and a half after 40 hours.  But a state can mandate that workers be paid overtime after 30 hours.  They can also say double time is to be paid.

Min wage is set by the federal government.  There are states who's min. wage is HIGHER than the federal min. wage.  There is no state who's min. wage is lower.

The civil rights act is just a federal law. It is no different than the healthcare bill in Congress. As a matter of fact, the federal government used Federal troops to enforce the civil rights act in Mississippi, when the governor refused to enforce the new law.

Current federal law also sets a minimum standard on what employer provided health insurance must provide.

You say all these laws are some how different from the healthcare bill currently before congress.  Please tell us how the new health care bill is different. You also say states set the minimum standards. Can you please give us an example of that as well.
