dale, I know what you are saying and why. But it won't be cheaper. It can't be. It will make jobs in the private sector disappear. Doctors won't spend half a million dollars on education to only make 100 grand a year. So the quality of health care is going to suffer. The countries that have health care run by the government don't have the quality. Many doctors from other countries come here to practice. That will stop. There will be know advantage to. Canadians come here to get medical care because they have to wait to long for it in Canada. The 30 million you speak include illegals and people that already qualify for medicade but didn't fill out the paperwork for a cold or less invasive illnesses. Children are covered by medicade. Then also out of that number are people who DON'T want insurance because they are young and don't get sick or what ever reason they decide not to get it.
Now having said that, YES reform is needed. YES insurance companies could be reigned in and there are so many things that could be done to make it more affordable. BUT, the government is NOT the answer. Republican or Democrat, it has PROVEN that it cannot run people and it isn't suppose to. The post office, bankrupt, the social security, bankrupt, and Medicade, BANKRUPT. Do you think they can manage health care for the entire population? Really? They can't run what they have. government will grow more and more. this country doesn't need bigger government.
Your 2 cents is important as is your heart and logic. The reality won't support what you want.
