He was an installer, that is why he didn't know what to do. And I doubt he ever saw an attenuator let alone knew what it was. And if he would have been a good installer he would have reported the high levels to his supervisor, who should have send a system tech out to check it out. You did what a typical hack tech would have done: A quick fix instead of addressing the total problem. My question would have been; Why are the levels too high? So, you fixed your problem, but taught bad practices to someone just starting out in the industry. That's why we have so many bad techs in the trade.
