Re: NewsBusted

a few thoughts....

during the "great depression" economists came up with a radical concept...

capitalism can not flourish in a vacuum....

everyone assumes that the law of supply and demand will regulate all things and all will be well in the world...but history has proved this to be false...our particular economy requires nudges...

most nudges are somewhat harmless, such as: the prime interest rate (lower this rate and more loans are requested/given and more homes are built). international trade tariff's (a higher tariff for imports increases foreign product prices which gives american made items a stronger chance in our market). decreasing speed limits (back in the day this was supposed to save gas which would decrease demand and lower costs). anyway, you get the point.

so...government KNOWS they must do something to moderate the economy...the easiest way to stimulate any economy is to spend money...this isn't conjecture, this is sound economic theory that history has proven to be correct...

so...now that we KNOW that ALL political parties must do things to moderate the economy (mostly by spending taxpayer money), we have to look at how the different parties try to spend that money.

democrats: i think we see what they have been spending money on. the stimulus package, in theory, was aimed at green energy, rebuilding bridges, etc etc etc..healthcare reform...trying to change the business of insurance, with government stimulus and regulations

republicans: well...mr bush spent quite a bit on several different wars, reducing taxes for big business (dont pretend this isnt spending), and i'm sure there was many programs designed to help the people of america.

so...to be completely honest, finger pointing about who is raising the deficit is pure political posturing. its bullshit. there isnt a politician out there that doesnt have an understanding of federal economics and a "pet" project to spend the taxpayers money on.

this money is GOING to get spent. it HAS to be spent. it has ALWAYS been spent (since the early part of last century).

the only question you have to ask yourself...how do you want your hard earned money spent?
