The CATV industry is not dying. It is indeed alive & well. It's the CATV INSTALLATION industry that is already dead. The cheap rates paid to techs is one of the reason others entities of the cable industry do so well. They are paying techs 3rd world rates, while charging their customers 1st world rates. They can't lose.
Im sure that expo went great. Im also sure that the expo was put on by all the entities of the CATV that actually make money. The service providers, equipment manufacturers, and etc.. all make a ton of money. But those who install the equipment, to provide the service, are now PAYING for the great honor to work in this industry. This expo should have been picketed by techs, to remind the people who put this expo on, that they need to remember the vital role installers, linemen, and service techs play in this industry. Unfortunately, we can't remind them of how vital our role is, until we first remind OURSELVES.
