true. we have several nodes that are fiber deep. glass to a node and then taps, no actives at all. the days of the sweep tech being the big shot in the system are slowly coming to an end.
there is some formula they use that decides when its cheaper to put node and none, or fiber to the house, but the days of 40 active nodes are over for us.
smaller nodes, no actives...its a great concept. how many outages have i ran at -20 degrees at 3am to swap out a power pac? too many. how many outages have i ran to replace or reset an agc? too many. how many runs have i had to completely reset because another on-call tech needed 4 db at the house and reset the entire run incorrectly to get it. too many.
