Yep: That is the future for "cable". Any company that can afford to do away with the coax and actives is doing it.
I have seen a lot of companies going fiber to the house if it is feasable. The MSO that I recently hung fiber for did all their small outlying systems fiber to the house in order to cut down on service calls and technicians. And I will tell you this: DTV doesn't have shit on that video picture.
