This is a very good idea in theory. I wish that we could get together and have more control of our industry. However the reality, brotherhood or not, is that we are all competitors. I, as most contractors, view myself as a small business that needs to run effectively to continue to thrive. That means if I see an opportunity for business that is profitable, I will most likely take it. If I don't, someone else will, strike or not. Hell, look at the ads on here for replacements in case of a union strike by ATT. It would take at least an 80% agreement between contractors to allow for this strike to have any bite. And I, for one, do not trust that many contractors. Just look at the grevances on the bar alone. Screwing each other has kept a lot of these individuals in business. There is just a large supply of people in this business with a smaller demand, hence the companies have the upper hand now.
I would sign on if there was a solid plan in place, but I don't see opportunistic members all abiding by the terms. Then we lose our customers, possibly our reputations by walking on jobs, and revenue for our company.
