Keeping tension on aerial drop while replacing - h

I often need to change an aerial drop to the customer's home where the tap is across the street. How do I keep enough tension on the line so that cars can still go under the drop being replaced. Are there tools or techniques that you guys use. The only other option is risking the drop getting rolled over while I'm climbing the ladder which with today's digital signal transmission, I don't think is an option. Please advise.
