I dont know what kind of work he did or the situation, but you guys keep harping on this email at 1:00 am.  Like Gwester said,  how does this disturb you?  I cant believe I am agreeing with Gwester.  I never checked my email and seen one come in at 1:00 AM and get offended.  I sent in my books before at 1:00 am and my bosses didnt call me unprofessional.
