Sounds like you need to quit changing parts and get your meter out and check the levels on all channels and then back track from where the signal is bad until you find where it is good. That will isolate you to a small area.
I have had in the past many moons ago a 22 rifle slug in the cable just touching the shield and center conductor. The cable only had channels 2 through 6 and every thing else was so bad you could not see it.
But the best advice I was ever given when I started working on the system plant was to never grab a part until I found where the plant was at design levels with my meter. Then you can isolate the where the plant is goo and bad and work form there.
