modems dropping

I wonder if any one can help with some some modem issues that we keep having. Original config was CMTS line card 4 nodes. Modems on all 4 nodes dropped then came right back up. Now 2 nodes keep dropping 1 at a time or together up to every 2 hours. Immediately they come back. Sometimes only half of the modems on 1 node drop drop or sometimes all. We checked the downstreams, good mer even when modems drop. We watched the upstreams on the spectrum, no noticeable noise. U/S ports showing 290-310 snr. running QPSK. We then split the 2 nodes on to 2 different line cards and the problem follows. We changed the lasers, cabling, retun combining taps, optical splitters, CMTS cards. We sat at the node and HE monitoring U/S on the spectrum when they dropped and saw nothing.
Anybody have any ideas on what we can check? We are out.
