Over the past 3 yrs i have been window shopping for a new tv (maybe this summer i will get one who knows). I look at the features for the video and sound inputs and commonly see HDMI, optical, s-video etc inputs. I have researched these different types of cables and see that the hdmi is best, s-video is 2nd, rca are 3rd and coax is last. Pretty much the same for the audio.
Now here is my question. Lets use my house for example. I have about 1500ft of coax feeder/distribution lines feeding my tap and then lets add about another 100ft of RG drop and house wire before it gets to my tv. So how is 4ft of HDMI cable or the other ones listed above going to improve my viewing service. I understand if i am viewing from a DVD player cause the DVD is the source its not already traveling over coax lines.
Does it have to do with the converter box somehow. Anyways i thought i would ask. I could never find a good answer on some of the geek sites. I saw a HDMI cable selling for about $50.00 tonight and it made me wonder.
thanks
hdmi , s-video cables
