Techinal help with cable system

hi, im a tech newbie i have a serious tech issue with my local cable company at my home address i am the very last house at the end of the line and have a very low signal. i can not receive all the channels they have listed even with a digital boxes and can not receive the hdtv channels because they are very high frequency. i have informed the cable company but they do nothing. i even installed a 1000mhz amp and it helps very little.. is there any way i can document this problem for my local franchise authority as we they have no staff to help.. im getting screwed......ps the lines are from the 1970s no fiber..
