Re: Slow Connection Speeds

Connection speed can change by any number of things, what kind of programs are running in the background on the computer? I have seen
photoshop programs slow a 10Mbps connection down to 26K simpley turning it off fixed the problem. My techs have laptops that are just for
checking modems. They just have internet explorer and a few other programs.

Remember connection is on the forward side so what is the signal level of your forward modems like to be hit with between 0 and +5db
less can make them slow down To much will make it clip the signal and will slow it down also.

Check for any substandard equipment, Radio Shack splitters, Kmart cable ect.

Can they ping anywhere? do they have a router in line is it a wireless router? All these can affect the connection speed.

It is best to start at the modem with a known good computer and work back.
If everyone is thinking alike, someone isn't thinking.
