Im not sure but I thought the cable modem transmit level was variable. Meaning that if your close to a amp the modem says ok I dont need to transmit @ 60 db ( the level Im told they are capable of doing on the return) So IF that is right by taking a T-mod at the end of line tap and transmitting at say 37 Mhz and at a level of 40 db when you go to the next active in line towards the node you should be able to pad the return chip for 20 db hitting it? So if someone modem is only transmitting at 15 db on the return should it see that and start ranging till its transmitts at the level it wants. Effectivle raising its voice in that "crowded room" till it can be heard without having to repeat itself?
