It's funny you should mention Florida installs. When I contracted for the utility company which is also a Directv and Wildblue retailer and (mini) hsp, the grounding policy was to advise the customer to buy and use a surge protector. On wildblue installs, the surge protector is provided. This was the policy of a utillity company, which struck me as very ironic. I inquired about the policy an dthe manager informed me that the company had ran several grounding tests and found that a 25' ground rod does not gound in the location that they operate.
The company did provide grounding materials, so I still grounded, but I didn't push the matter with the higher ups because I didn't want to ruffle any feathers.
And FC13, thanks for educating the masses on your grounding knowledge. It was like reading the directions on a shampoo bottle. "You mean if I use water, then I can achieve more lather, hmm."
