You can ground per NEC and dish specs, however all you are doing is a 'static ground' and not a direct ground. Take for example the grounding point(s) on a HughesNet dish. It is a direct ground and not a static ground because your grounding point is connected to the LNB assembly.
To get the same caliber of grounding with dish & directv, you must step outside of the respective 'specs' and ground directly to the LNB assembly.
I am not posting this to be argumentative, but to see what others views on the subject.
