Here's the SBCA's views on grounding. Mast mounting bracket to electode (5/8"x8-10' ground rod) with min of #10 copper or #8 Aluminum. From there a # 6 (less than 20') to the Utility ground. You can eliminate the ground rod if it serves no purpose= making a right or left turn or shortening distance to ground as opposed to distance of cable run (grounding distance "must" be the shorter of the two. Don't let me confuse you ,here, the utility ground still is still in play here. Now the coax goes to the ground block location which should be as close to utility ground as possible. From the ground block to the ground rod or utility ground would be #10 copper or #8 aluminum. Each locality has independent regs which may differ "slightly"= follow local codes. Gound rods must always be back bonded to utility ground. That's SBCA in a nutshell! Later, MIKE M.
