BTW, installers in other parts of the telecom world have 30yr careers. Yes many of them move into splicing or construction, but it is very common to meet someone who has 20-30yrs as an installation/repair technician in the telecom world.

Installing not being a career is something that came about with CATV. It is very common for others in the telecom world to not only have long careers installing, but they many times pull their kids and relatives into the business as well.

I plan to soon be leaving the ranks of the un-represented, sometimes under-paid, and un-organized. In June I will have fullfilled a 1 year residency requirement to join the L.U. I will be looking to become a voice, video, and data technician. You asked about pay.


See pg 12. Lucky for us, the contractors who belong to NECA still pay a decent wage for low-voltage work.
