Ahhhh, so you're a credentials person. I say a person should be judged by what they CAN do, not by what a piece of paper (parchment or otherwise) says they should be able to do!
History is full of people (both recent and in the past) who have amassed great personal fortunes, and/or immense public stature with modest, and even little or no formal education. Such as:
Abraham Lincoln - less than 1 year of formal schooling (grammar school)
Bill Gates - Worlds richest person - college dropout
Michael Dell - Billionaire - Not a very good student and college dropout at age 19
and on and on.
I would certainly state that an education opens up many more doors, some, if not most, that would never be opened up without it, and it seems to have been a very good fit for you.
I must add though, and this comes from a great deal of personal observation, it doesn't make anyone smarter. It does, however, make them .... well .... more educated!
